Home game walk-up music
This year, our varsity softball players will feel like they are playing in a major softball stadium with announcements and walk-up music for each player. We will control and run this from the dugout.
To make this happen, what we need from each player are the following:
- Select one to three songs that are your favorite songs that you want to hear when you come up to bat
- Note, each song must conform with Lake Fenton Community School’s community guidelines
- Each song will only be played for 8-10 seconds with some crossover (about 1-2 seconds) with the player name announcement
- Select the song and the approximate position of the clip you want to hear
- In other words:
- Name of song
- Position of clip, for example starting at the 1:20 mark of the track and continuing for 10 seconds
- In other words:
- That’s it.
We will download the song from Apple Music and add it to your profile in the iOS app, Ballpark DJ. There will be an iOS device in the dugout that will play the announcement of your name and favorite music clip over the LFHS softball sound system. Note, if you don’t provide a favorite song clip, we can select a short clip of generic dance music to accompany your name announcement.
Lake Fenton Sweeps Corunna in Season Opening Doubleheader
Updated on 06/10/2022 | Tim Draeger
Lake Fenton varsity softball started the season strong with a doubleheader sweep over conference rival, Corunna, by scores of 13-1 and 8-5.
In game 1, pitcher Camryn McMillan was the star on both offense and defense. On offense, she hit her first ever varsity home run in her first varsity at bat in the first inning, a solo shot that fought the 13-mph wind blowing in as it traveled over the centerfield fence for the first of two runs scored in the first inning. She also led the team in hits (3) and RBI's (5). Macy Phillips and Alayna White had two hits each, and White added two RBI's to the team total. The Blue Devils led the entire contest, logging another run in the third, and five runs each in powerful 5th and 6th innings. The ability of Lake Fenton to turn hits into runs was strong despite leaving 10 base runners on base. Eight of the nine Lake Fenton players scored in the game, with the ninth player being tagged out on a very close play at home plate. Lead off hitter, Addison Fitzgerald, led all players with three runs scored, while Christina Lamb, Breanna Shiveley, and Macy Phillips all scored two runs each. The team batting average of .379 was respectable for the first contest of the season, especially facing an experienced Corunna pitcher, but one of the better measures, and a team goal to improve on this year, was the team QAB (Quality at Bats) rating which was a solid 53.7.
McMillan also came through on defense, striking out 12 of the 23 batters she faced. She allowed only 2 walks, 4 hits, and one earned run in 6 innings and 97 pitches (28 balls and 69 strikes). She was backed up by a solid fielding performance that included NO ERRORS in the first game of the season.
In game 2, the contest was a little tighter, but the outcome was the same. In a game cut short by darkness (and cold...), Lake Fenton jumped out to an early three-run lead in the first inning when the first three batters all crossed home plate, with RBI hits from McMillan (1) and Lamb (2). In the bottom half of the inning, pitcher Alayna White gave up a home run to the second batter of the first inning, but then came back to strike out the third batter in nine pitches. The solo home run was the only damage of the inning, though, as the solid infield defense notched the last out. Unfortunately, in the second inning, Corunna bats came alive, but errors also allowed the Cavaliers to score four runs in the inning, tying the score. When Breanna Shiveley came in to pitch, her solid performance combined with a better defensive performance finally got the Blue Devils out of the inning.
Christina Lamb led the offense in game two with three hits (two singles and one double), and three RBI's.
Lake Fenton's next doubleheader will be at home vs. Linden on Monday, April 19, 2021 starting at 4:00 pm EDT.
